Good on you Gilbert ... Much better work flow. Before they're registered they
come to me on a sheet. I decide if it requires a full app' or fast track. If
fast track we don't acknowledge but just send out decisions to applicant and
neighbours ... Everyone here loves it ... Tree contractors, applicants, most
customers, even neighbours because they get an answer so quickly.

Gilbert,

There is no requirment to 'publicise' tree app's further than having them on
a register and allowing th epublic to view them (TPO and CAN).
You must however consider any representations received 'before the decision
date' but otherwise you can make your decision as soon as you want. I went
right through these aspects a couple of years back when we introduced our
fast-track process. We have made decisions in 3 days for minor works that one
would not normally withhold consent for. Felling goes to a full app' but we
still don not consult or have a consultation period. What we do is notify
neighbours for interest purposes and state that we are not seeking comments
as all tree app's are dealt with purely on a technical basis. If we have a
more controversial proposal then we can switch on all the normal procedures.
The fast-track process has pleased far more customers than have complained
... We have complete delegation on all.

Dear Learned Ones - I can't find any requirement for a consultation period
between receipt of an application and determination. I understand that
applications should be entered into a publically viewable register, but is
there any reason why they should not be determined on the same day they were
received? I appreciate that some LPAs have procedures in place for a
consultation period but I'm talking legal rquirements here.
