Hydro Trenches

Subject: Hydro Trenches

Has anyone any experience of hydro trenches in relation to the prevention
of tree related subsidence?

If so do they work?

These are trenches that are filled with water to prevent the clay soil
drying out and shrinking, nothing to do with the excavation of trenches
using water.

The only link I can find on Google other than the above is a reference to a
1930s photographer in the States.

I am quite sceptical but keeping an open mind!

Thanks in advance Tom
