Isn't that what woodlands are for? I seem to remember that commoners normally
had rights to gather, coppice and pollard trees in the bad old days. Perhaps
we should be glad that people are keeping up the tradition. It may be a good
thing that they are seeing new ways of getting value from woodland. Planting
some more might be a good idea to keep things rolling along. Better still
encourage those who felled them to plant some more. They'll need them again
in years to come.
