book when I'm looking for inspiration with planting plans.
Although very old, it has some great information, but most of the pictures
are in B+W and I think some of the information is out of date. I'd like to
Is there a modern day equivalent which lists expected height, crown spread
and colour, favoured soil conditions, tolerances and sensitivities? I've not
really found anything on amazon.
If not, what books do you find useful for this (apart from of course, the
usual tree guides which are very descriptive, but aren't so good on growth
