I'll try to explain. Two trees, an Ash and a Red Oak growning side by side.
Sepreated by about fifteen feet. Both about 45 foot tall. The canopies did
not have any pouras border, no overlap what so ever. I felled the Ash leaving
the Oak. There it stood, one side fully developed domed canopy. The side that
had been adjasent to the Ash was as flat as flat could be. As a consiquens it
was a terrific image two dimensional of tree arcitecture. This was some 15
plus years ago, ten years ago David LJ came round and went wow wee cool and
took a Pic. David has been in touch to ask for another pic. Ive been watching
this tree for 15 years and as mad as it sounds, the branches have for the
want of a better explanation migrated around the stem, presumably to redres
the imbalance. In one of the pictures posted by Jerry you can see the house
in the back ground, this picture was taken from the side of the tree. All the
branch work you see on the right of the stem as you look at it, was not
there. It was on the tree, just not there. The remarkable thing is the change
in direction has taken place at the point of attachment.
