Hi Bettina,

Reckon that is an 'artistic' representation of Wentworth Woodhouse - long
saga with coal mining/undermining to property. Wiki will assist.

A fine architectural example although no Cedar evident from google drop in
to front lawn.

Hello all,
glancing through my copy of 'Thelwell Country' (1964) I noticed that Norman
Thelwell does some very good drawings of trees in the countryside etc.

This one in particular caught my eye on p23 of the book, and shows a rather
lovely looking Cedar in front of a mansion house (if the attached scan has
come through OK that is).

Does anyone know where this house is? And if so, is the Cedar tree still
there?

The little sign at the foot of the steps says ' National Coal Board Area
Office'.

many thanks
Bettina
