There is no water in front of house at Wentworth. Also there is a Cedar to
left side of Broadlands if you look at Google earth.

Thelwell lived next to the river Test at Timsbury and the house
could be Broadlands close by, the home of the late Lord
Mountbatten. Remember Thelwell used artististic licence! I met
him once and have fished the beat he owned.

    Kind regards

    Hello all,
glancing through my copy of 'Thelwell Country' (1964) I noticed
    that Norman
Thelwell does some very good drawings of trees in the countryside
    etc.

This one in particular caught my eye on p23 of the book, and
    shows a rather
lovely looking Cedar in front of a mansion house (if the attached
    scan has
    come through OK that is).

Does anyone know where this house is? And if so, is the Cedar
    tree still
    there?

The little sign at the foot of the steps says ' National Coal
    Board Area
    Office'.

    many thanks
    Bettina
