Thanks, Bill. I'll have a look. But I'm getting confuseder and confusider.
I admit I haven't read every document through and through because of the
difficulty of us Yanks being separated by a common language and pure
laziness/business, but would you or anyone else care to summarize (see what
I mean?) the reasoning behind the whole thing?

Some time ago, I was able to find some of the trees in question, but
couldn't come to any kind of conclusive understanding.

Cheerios,
Wayne

Hi Wayne,
no it hasn't been finished and I doubt it ever will be. One of the problems
the Council contractors didn't appreciate is that the 25 year contract
would mean that by the time year 20 came along, they would be removing
trees that they planted in year 1. In case that sounds wrong, I have to
point out that trees we planted this century are being removed already (as
part of the scheme).
I suppose you could find some of the trees on Google Earth; the
FC investigation seems to have featured a lot of Google-ing, but
ascertaining which ones from across the pond might be difficult. If I
notice any obvious things with a good Google view I'll post a link. Here's
one: https://goo.gl/maps/i8cA61LH7LgiKUmP9 This was the road that featured
the dawn raid with elderly ladies being arrested. Scroll through the
historic images to get an idea of the state of things.
And here's something that you might or might not find useful:

Has this work been completed? Are all the trees that are going to be
removed now gone? If not, is there any way to determine the locations of
those awaiting the axe and those that have been saved?

I'll look forward to Bill's analysis.

No I hadn't and I hadn't seen it either Phillip, thanks.
In fact I wasn't sure it was really happening; from a brief perusal
there
are some reasonable criticisms in there but some seem a bit
unreasonable; I
thought the Council made a reasonable attempt to inform people what was
going on and the couple of road-shows I visited seemed to be well
attended,
so that's an aspect of the report with which I'd disagree.
I'll read it properly later.
Bill.
