Hi Ian

Thanks for that. Your comments represent the viewpoint of many, I am sure.

I suggest nature conservation is not something we do for nature, unless you
see humans as part of nature; it is in fact a selfish thing, i.e. we
conserve nature because we absolutely need it.

Nature would of course heal itself once we are gone - but that is a
terribly nihilistic perspective.

Our country is small but it has rare and important habitats and species;
and of course a single tree can have rare habitat too. Also our country
sets an example.
