Hi Phil, how big are the trees; if ~recently planted nursery stock, that is
where the disease came from - the nursery -; if older, I don’t know - but it
can show several years after planting. I had trees grow out of it; and the
risk with pruning is spreading the pathogen unless your sanitary procedures
are spot-on.

Understanding how trees become infected with this disease, the vector and how
its spread might help with a plan of action.
With Elm disease cutting the branch with symptoms (discoloration of
foliage/shepherds crook) deep below the visible disease into clean wood with
wounds showing no staining should arrest further ingress.
I hear someone recently had lopped the top of an Ash tree with Chalara and
appeared to respond well with new growth, albeit looking somewhat different.
An expensive operation for 60 Norway maple trees but ....

Hi all,
Does anyone know of any effective control measures for Verticillium dahliae
in Norway maples other than pruning out the deadwood?
I have a client with 150 Norway maples of which 60 have symptoms of V.dahliae
to some degree or other. I'm looking for an alternative to felling. Best
regards
