Hi Phillip, as Alistair has mentioned there is no specified statutory height
clearance for highways, it is for the individual HAs to determine based on
road classification and usage, vehicle sizes etc.

In a previous TO role we had a general clearance of 5.2m over highways and
2.2 over footways. However, on one open-top bus route this was increased to
nearer 5.5m, but often in suburban areas it was lower than 5.2m...until the
refuse lorry went through and created its own clearance.

Kind regards,
Paul

Can anyone advise on statutory height clearance on a highway, a question
often comes up on forum.

I have just read with a TPO application that the statutory height
requirement over a highway is 5.2 m.

I thought it was 3.2m but likely wrong.

Kind regards

Phillip Ellis
