Jim - ok, not the most scary example, but you know what I mean. Haha!
I recall talking to a social worker on this subject & she emphasised the
use of workers wearing hi vis clothing to ensure people would be reassured
by the ‘person in the woods’, rather than some nutter muttering to himself
& hugging trees - as most arb surveyors must appear to the general public.

Brynley,
“If you go down to the woods today”… was to see the Teddy Bears' picnic!!

Hi Mark
I partially blame all the scary (woodland based) nursery stories we were
told as kids. Ha!
“If you go down to the woods today”….
And our prehistoric hard wiring.
Complex issue

Dear all
Just scanned this research - linked. It seems people find parks / open
spaces particularly scary, especially at night.

Can this be changed? Should it be?
With winter coming this perception limits people’s use of outdoor space
during the short days.

Lighting in trees?
Thermal imaging monitoring?
Parks police?

What do you think?
