Hi Michael,
We had a bit of a struggle obtaining consent for a vehicle crossover over a
verge with a tree from a road to a private drive. To placate a tree officer I
offered a condition to have a fluorescence check on the nearby tree each
summer for three years. The tree didn't miss a beat.
At an Arboricultural Association conference in Exeter I joined a small group
to have a field demonstration and I have to say that I was impressed. As
with anything to do with trees one has to take a balanced view, but the
experience of a colleague was the same as mine, and recently I have
recommended it again.
Not a statistically significant opinion perhaps, but it has a thumbs-up from
me.
Jim
