I had to abandon a fungal quest in Bristol once (surrounds of the Clifton
suspension) due to the shocking number of needles around, it was an eye
opener, i mean everywhere.

I s'pose the worse risk you encounter Tim is tripping over a stale Cornish
pastie?

Rupert,

I once asked on some arb forum whether anybody had had any injury while
surveying that would have been prevented by safety boots. The long list of
responses telling me of spikes through the boots, surveyors falling over
this and that, and this and that falling over surveyors, well, it all quite
took me aback.

After this the representative from a large engineering firm explained that
one surveyor had fallen, bashed his head and died. This all persuaded me
to just get on with the RA, RAMS and invest in some new boots.

I'm still not convinced by the safety helmet with a 4-point chin strap
though.

Best regards,

Dear Tin, Jonathan, and Philip,

Many thanks!

Goddam safety Nazis - I can understand the need for a health and safety
policy if when it's carrying at work; but for a person bimbling around
looking at a bunch of trees and occasionally tapping them is it really
necessary?

Atb

Rupert
