You could also consider checking the database for records of The larch
bolete in the Larix areas and The Bovine bolete and Suilus granulatus in th
pine areas.

Then check for Biologically available Aluminium levels in the soil, ( a new
issue)

Too much Aluminum causes the shut down of the trees system, larch and pines
are ecto mycorrhizea associating species and those mentioned above are
their species specific co habitants, their presence indicates good
conditions and lead o an alternative possible diagnosis or at least help
rule out the drought situation.

That all said were witnessing a lot of it in certain areas all over Europe
too, drought. We have lost many many spruces in the last few summers with
armillaria coming in and finishing the job.

Morning all. Re the above: in our locality we're seeing increasing numbers
of trees (particularly conifers it seems) dying or declining with no
defined cause. In two of the cases -one in Scots Pine and one in Larch both
involving large numbers of trees- Plant Health have been involved and have
not found any biotic cause. I'm leaning towards the delayed effects of
drought periods in the decline and death of these trees but wonder if
anyone else is observing similar?
